Random Thoughts... I Got A Bit Long-Winded

After a particularly horrendous day at school, here some things that do make me smile right now:
Spontaneous dance parties/sing-alongs in my living room
Singing really loud in my car (even though I know people are staring)
Roomie time at The Connection
No school this coming Monday or the next one
The fact the Spring Training starts in a little less than a month (get excited Margarita!)

Australia. Yeah the idea is back out there in the open (sort of). If you didn't know me a year and a half ago let me fill you in. Sometime in the beginning of 2007 I decided that it really wanted to go to Australia on an extended vacay. Then the idea of extended vacay became the idea to move there. Not permanently, but for a year maybe. My plan became this - I was going to do my student teaching and then after graduation (December '07) I would move home, hopefully find a teaching job, or something, for the second half of the school year, save my money, and move to Sydney in the fall of '08 or January '09 (aka NOW). Clearly I am not there. I am still in Wilmington, but I'm so glad that I am. Clearly there was a reason for me to stay. 2008 was a great year and I learned a lot. It was definitely a year of transition in a lot of ways. I developed some really incredible friendships, I got my first real teaching job (in the long run, I will look back on that too and be thankful for it), and I learned how to be independent. Had I moved home, I wouldn't have learned how to be independent until I moved and looking back, I don't think that's something I would have wanted to learn on the other side of the world. All that said, the idea of moving to Sydney never completely went away, it just got pushed into the back corner. The other night I was talking to my friend Caroline and I was just being dramatic and whining about not knowing what to do with myself in the fall and she said, "What happened to Australia?" I made some comment about how that will never actually happen and blah blah blah and how I was just considering staying here or moving to Charlotte. She said, "Well it sounds to me like you have 3 options. Wilmington, Charlotte, or Sydney." (It's kind of nice to have someone who actually believes that that is a realistic idea.) Now I'm not saying that I am leaving the country in the near future, but I will say that I am thinking about it again. No decisions have been made about ANYTHING, but I'll be sure to keep you posted.
